The Rubenianum is a partner in the scholarly preparation of a Rubens exhibition in Stuttgart planned for 2021. One of the research findings has already been published by the exhibition’s co-curator, Prof. Nils Büttner, together with Dr. Anna Orlando in The Rubenianum Quarterly 2020│4.
Digital Accessibility and Assessment of the Ludwig Burchard Collection
Thanks to a generous gift, the Rubenianum is able to resume work on the scholarly legacy of Ludwig Burchard (1886-1960).
Up-to-date information, more illustrations (many in color), downloadable and searchable using OCR: since 2014 the Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard has been highly accessible online.
This project involved compiling a description and inventory, of the entire scholarly estate of Ludwig Burchard.
Almost 800 wood landscapes by Gillis II van Coninxloo, Abraham Govaerts, Jan I Breughel, Adriaen van Stalbemt and many other artists were added to the artwork database RKDimages. The project also included a study of the Antwerp painter Marten Rijckaert.
The Rubenianum manages a large collection of catalogues produced by auction houses in all parts of the world. An inventory had been drawn up of these 28,000 catalogues, but they were not yet indexed at item level. This project changed that.
