The Horst Vey Collection

Archive relating to scholarship on Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641), including documentation of artworks.

History, content and structure

In 2010 the Rubenianum came into the possession of the Van Dyck documentation of Horst Vey (1930-2010). Vey was the director of the Staatliche Kunsthalle in Karlsruhe and is co-author of Van Dyck: A complete catalogue of the paintings. This book, published in 2004, is the standard work on Anthony van Dyck’s oeuvre of paintings. The documentation consists of photographs, notes and correspondence about the first and second Antwerp period of Van Dyck that were used during the preparation of this book. Vey continued completing his documentation after the publication.
